Choosing Your Bowling Ball
If you are visiting the Wave Bowl socially, then your best option is to use one of our house bowling balls.
House balls come in a variety of sizes and fingers.
The heaviest bowling ball weighs 16 pounds and the lightest bowling ball is 6 pounds.
So how will you know which weight is best for you?
Your ideal ball weight is the heaviest ball you can comfortably throw. If you have chosen a ball and find you are getting sore or tired, then you’ll need a lighter ball.
If you are throwing a 12 pound bowling ball with extreme ease, then you will probably need at heavier ball.
Rule of Thumb
Most men use 14- to 16-pound bowling balls, while women tend to do well with 10- to 14-pound balls. If you’re taking the kids along, assign one pound for each year of age, such as a 6-pound ball for a six-year-old, but you’ll also want to take gender and physical condition into account.

How to Hold Your Bowling Ball
Once you find a ball that's right for you, the next step is learning how to hold it properly. Throwing (and even holding) a bowling ball with an improper grip can cause injury, not to mention hinder your bowling abilities.
The ball is heavy, so you need to hold it the right way to prevent injury and improve your game.
There are a number of different ways to grip the ball, but it all starts with the convention grip—the middle and ring fingers placed in the side-by-side holes and the thumb in the other.
How to Score in a Game of Bowling
We have 12 electronic scoring lanes to assist you when bowling at Wave Bowl. However, being able to keep score helps you figure out what you need to do in order to achieve certain scores, defeat your opponents, or merely impress your friends with a scoring system that can be extremely confusing at first.
Bowling Scoring Basics
One game of bowling consists of 10 frames, with a minimum score of zero and a maximum of 300. Each frame consists of two chances to knock down ten pins. Instead of scoring tries as in football, we score in "pins".Strikes and spares
Knocking down the pins on your first ball is called a "STRIKE". If it takes two shots. to knock down all ten pins then it's called a "SPARE". If, after two shots, at least one pin is standing, it's called an "OPEN FRAME".
Ok, so there you have it ! A quick run-down of the game of bowling.
